Photo-a-Day Challenge: Day 2 – Flowers

Here is my Arc, peeping out from behind the bunch of flowers my boyfriend bought me at the beginning of this week. Isn’t he wonderful?

Photo-a-Day Challenge: Day 1 – May Day

I have to say I don’t really celebrate May Day, and neither does anyone I know, so this is the best I could do:

That’s my work shift and running class you can see on there. Sorry about that!

UK Planner Addicts’ Photo-a-Day Challenge

I’m going to be taking part in the Photo-a-Day challenge ran by the Facebook group “UK Planner Addicts“. I’ve never done one of these challenges before, and I’m quite looking forward to it!

Here’s the criteria for each day:

I’m going to have to backdate Days 1 and 2, so forgive the post-spree that’s about to begin!

Decorating with song lyrics

I’m a huge fan of music, so I love to decorate my planner with some of my favourite lyrics. This is what I’ve done for the next two weeks:

These are from Shinedown’s song Better Version.

How about you? Do you decorate your planner with lyrics or phrases?

A planner dilemma

As you might remember from my last post, I’m having a bit of a struggle between which planner I want to use. Every time I move into one of them, I find myself getting planner envy towards my other planners. I know, getting planner envy towards yourself – how ridiculous!

There are 3 contenders – an A5 Arc, an A5 Filofax and a Personal Filofax. I’m going to list the pros and cons of each, in the hope you’ll help me decide:

20140503-090254.jpg

Personal Filofax, Swift

Pros
-Small and lighter to carry (in comparison)
-More portable
-I own the correct hole punch to punch sheets straight in
-It’s beautiful
-Fits in more of my bags (I like to switch around quite a bit)

Cons
-The pages are smaller so I don’t have a lot of space to write, so things get cramped
-Pages tend to “pop out” when you open the rings – that is, they come off the rings and you have to spend time putting them all back on

A5 Filofax, “System Organiser” from circa 1992

Pros
-The leather is rather lovely!
-Plenty of space to write
-Plenty of pockets/slots/a zip pocket inside
-Easy to get paper in the right size

Cons
-It’s quite big!
-Punching pages is awkward, because I don’t have an A5 punch (and I’m not buying one)
-It’s pretty heavy and bulky
-Potential for the same popping-off-the-rings issue
-Very, very slight ring-alignment issue, which doesn’t currently affect the pages but may in future

A5 Arc by Staples, Purple

Pros
-Lots of space to write
-Easy to get A5 paper to fit
-Planner is lightweight
-Covers/discs are cheap
-Can increase/reduce capacity and size to suit
-I own the Arc punch
-No issue with pages falling off rings/rings developing gaps in future

Cons
-I would be abandoning my beloved Filofaxes 😦
-No closure mechanism

I really don’t know what to do. I’m drawn to all 3 of these planners! Obviously I only need to use one, so… Which do I pick? I have no use for a home planner, or a work planner… I’m a one-life-one-planner girl.

Please help!

Quick question time!

I’m having a bit of a dilemma!

How do I choose between my A5 Filofax and my A5 Staples Arc as my daily planner? They both have different pros and cons, and I love them both equally…

I don’t know what to do! Please help me make a decision!

My Week #1: the reprise

I’m re-introducing the My Week feature! It’s been so long since I did it that I think I should probably start again from number 1, don’t you agree?

I’ve set myself up in an A5 Arc. I know, change again! I’m terrible for it. I’ve been so unsettled in the Personal Filofaxes, looking for a solution to the page size vs portability issue, and… I think the Arc might just be it. I already feel at home in it! I’ll blog about the setup soon.

Anyway, this is this week:

I’ve been rather busy! Between running and working, I’ve barely had a moment to breathe. I didn’t do the Parkrun on Saturday, because everyone else I run with dropped out, and I had no other way of getting there. Oh well, plenty more Parkruns to do in the future!

So, that was my week. How was yours?

Different Filofax WO2P layouts

Filofax Cotton Cream WO2P layout offer an equal space per day, compared to the usual WO2P which has larger weekdays and smaller weekends:

I thought I preferred the equal space layout, but after seeing both together like this I think I prefer the old style layout. Sometimes my weekends are busy, but I usually fill up a weekday box more than a weekend.

What do you think? Which do you prefer?

Filofax idea #2

Have you ever bought some sticker sheets to use in your filofax, but they’re simply too big to store in it?

No problem.

I had some beautiful sticker sheets I bought from Paperchase:

Lovely, but too big for my Filofax to hold comfortably. So I chopped them in half, careful not to cut any of the stickers:

I then glued them in, using up some scrap Filofax sheets in the process (this one being the “have you ordered your 2015 diary yet?” sheet:

I’m very happy with the result! I can now carry these stickers around me, and I haven’t even wasted any paper in the process!
